Giving young people, particularly those with special needs, a sporting chance
The Brasserie Blanc group of restaurants has chosen the Lady Taverners as its charity for the year – aiming to buy specially adapted mini-buses for children with special needs. With funds raised, the charity also donates money to many sporting and recreational activities, including the development of playgrounds, sensory rooms, sailing dingy’s, riding equipment, as well as the provision of sports wheelchairs for youngsters with special needs.
Founded in 1987, The Lady Taverners is the charitable arm of the Lord’s Taverners, and has raised an incredible £6 million pounds to date.
Sponsored by Joseph Perrier Champagne, Brasserie Blanc recently hosted events in Bristol and Cheltenham. Not only were they great fun, with guests sampling champagne and canapés and listening to sounds from Lemon Grove Jazz Band, but a staggering £16,000 was raised. So we are now in a position to buy our first minibus!!
Raymond Blanc was made a Lord Taverner at the Launch of our fundraising year at Brasserie Blanc Cheltenham and was presented with a special tie. Raymond said “It’s always very difficult to choose a charity with so many worthwhile causes to support. What I love about this charity is seeing monies go directly to where it is needed most – the children. The buses are expensive to buy, so we will be hosting fundraising events in all of our Brasseries. We are delighted to be supporting this very worthwhile charity across the country.”
With thanks to the generosity of local shops and retailers as well as Friends of the Lady Taveners, gifts and donations have enabled us to raise this money from our auctions and raffles at these events. We thank Nicholas Parsons and Rachel Heyhoe-Flint who have been truly fantastic auctioneers.
Brasserie Blanc would also like to thank our generous customers who have kindly made donations by adding a little extra to their bills.
