Raymond Blanc has long been a Chef Alliance Ambassador for Slow Food UK, and we are delighted to be supporting their Slow Food Week (1-9 June)
Their Forgotten Foods initiative gives a voice to small-scale producers and encourages consumers to rediscover the UK’s fabulous home-grown foods, many of which are in danger of slipping off the culinary landscape – so come in and try them and help us ensure they remain part of our food heritage.
Throughout the week we will have Herdwick Mutton and traditionally grown Jersey Royal potatoes on our specials boards.
Herdwick Mutton: a beautiful and distinctive breed from the Lake District where the lambs are matured slowly grazing freely on the fells to produce tender and gamey meat. Try our slow cooked shoulder of mutton during SLOW FOOD WEEK.
Jersey Royals: grown by just twenty farmers using traditional methods dating back to the 12th century. There is no mistaking the unique, sweet flavour of these lovely spuds!
