Covent Garden is all set on Tuesday 29th May as internationally renowned chef Raymond Blanc invites London to join him for a massive can-can on the piazza.
This dazzling spectacle is being held to celebrate the recent opening of the culinary maestro’s flagship Brasserie Blanc that is located, fittingly enough, in a gorgeous French style listed conservatory overlooking the Royal Opera House.
Along with the opportunity to show off your dance moves, there will be book signing sessions with the great man himself. In addition, grab one of the special branded baguettes that the dancers will be giving out throughout the day for a chance to win one of a selection of fabulous prizes, that will be give away each hour, including bottles of champagne and dinner for two at Brasserie Blanc Opera Terrace.
The festivities will begin with a colourful demonstration by professional can-can dancers at 12.30pm, 1.30pm and then at 2.30pm and 3.30pm. Having been shown how it’s done, the crowd will then be invited to strut their stuff alongside Raymond himself at 4.30pm and 6.30pm.
In addition, Raymond will be signing copies of his bestselling Kitchen Secrets book and chatting to fans in the piazza from 5pm until 6pm. Adding to the excitement will be some fascinating food demos and culinary tastings carried out by Raymond.
What’s more, anyone who shows they can can-can will have the chance to enter an amazing competition, the first prize of which is a cookery class hosted by Raymond Blanc himself. The name of the lucky winner will be announced after the final performance at 6.30pm.
So, if you want to spice up a standard Tuesday in London with a little Parisian ooh la la, come down to Covent Garden and kick up a storm!
Commented Raymond Blanc: “We are so excited by the launch of our new Brasserie Blancs in London and our flagship brasserie in Opera Terrace that we want to celebrate its opening in style. I would encourage as many people as possible to come down to Covent Garden on the 29th May for what promises to be an action-packed and very entertaining day!”
With its stunning arched glass ceiling and views across the piazza, the Grade II-listed building housing this latest addition to the Brasserie Blanc collection is a destination in itself. Aside from the 100-cover restaurant, Brasserie Blanc Opera Terrace also features a stand-alone cocktail bar, a large al fresco terrace and a crêperie on the ground floor.
Brasserie Blanc has built up an enviable reputation thanks to its affordable French food and relaxed atmosphere. 2012 will be the company’s busiest year to date with the nine existing sites joined by new outlets in central London including St Paul’s, Tower London, Opera Terrace London, Chancery Lane, Southbank London, Charlotte Street and Bishopsgate, along with four other sites across the UK.
