Very Important Producers
Loch Fyne

At Loch Fyne we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of marine environmental initiatives – something that has been an important part of our business since day one. Whilst it is imperative that we focus on delivering seafood of impeccable quality, we believe it is also essential that we take positive action to preserve the environment from which our fish and shellfish originate.
Our salmon suppliers at Loch Duart and in the Shetlands are small, independent local producers who have earned reputations as outstanding businesses in the area of salmon farming. The salmon farm at Loch Duart was the first in the world to receive RSPCA Freedom Foods Accreditation – an impressive achievement for this small, dedicated and passionate company.
Our oysters and mussels are grown naturally, on the shore at Ardkinglas at the head of Loch Fyne, and by our partner growers in Argyll and the Islands. Our island oysters come from Andy Abrahams, who grows his shellfish on the strand on Colonsay, where the wind whips in across the Atlantic, all the way from New York. We also take Tony Archibald’s oysters, from his site on the shore at Loch Grunart on Islay.
Our head of mussel growing is Iain Mackay, who joined us as a lad 12 years ago. We are privileged to work with many people of Iain’s dedication and skill, across the West Highlands and the wider UK. All are small independent producers and artisans: fishermen, farmers and processors, personally committed to their chosen way of life.
