Domaine Begude

Domaine Begude is a small family-owned historic estate set high in the fooothills of the Pyrenees in in the Limoux region of the Languedoc. Catherine and James Kinglake bought the vineyard in 2003, it has been organically farmed for the last 25 years and wine has been produced on this historic estate since the 16th century.
Our driving passion is is to produce outstanding cool climate wines from this awesome terroir. Our fruit is of the highest natural quality thanks to our long growing season and our belief in a healthy, sustainable environment through organic farming. We only use sheep and cow manure to fertilise and we weed mechanically rather than weed-kill chemically.
We employ a driven perfectionist, Laurent Girault, as our manager, who has made wine all over France and as far afield as New Zealand. Assisting him in the vineyard is a young local worker, Romain Castan. We also employ Richard Osborne, the renowned Australian winemaker based in the Languedoc.
With our wines we aim to bridge the gap between the ‘New’ and the ‘Old World’ by producing fresh and zesty wines reminiscent of the former, but with the elegance of the latter, all at very affordable prices.
