Bordeaux
Château Brane Cantenac, Cru Classé, Marqaux 2003, France
Château Brane Cantenac is a winery in the Margaux appellation of the Bordeaux wine region of France. This winery was acquired in 1833 by the Baron Hector de Brane who named the estate after himself and who was largely responsible for the identification of Cabernet Sauvignon as Medoc’s number one grape. In 1922 it was acquired by the Lurton Family.
- Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot

Château Talbot, Crus Classé, St Julien, 2001 France
Allegedly named after the general who lost the Aquitaine region to the France, maybe because he went into battle unarmed having sworn not to bear arms against the French. Talbot is now run by the daughters of the formidable Jean Cordier. The 2001 was a great year and is drinking well since 2003.
- Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot

Château Pontet Canet, Crus Classé, Pauillac 2000 France
For four generations the Tesseron family have tended the vineyard now boasting a balance of respect for tradition and science. Of the 2000 many great things have been said including James Suckling in the Wine Spectator who rated simply as “the best Pontet Canet ever” The 2000 is drinking well from 2007.
- Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc

Château Gruaud-Larose, Crus Classé, St Julien, 2000 France
One of the younger Bordeaux Chateaus, established in the early 1700. The 20th Century has seen the vineyard pass through several owners but Georges Pauli the Technical Director has since 1970 headed a drive for increasing quality. The fabulous 2000 vintage shows Gruaud-Larose at it's best and it will stay like for quite a few years to come.
- Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec

Les Forts De Latour, Pauillac, 2000 France
This Pauillac is the second wine of the famous First Growth Chateau Latour. Made with grapes from the "young vines" of the "Grand Enclos" (the main 47 hectare vineyard) and from the grapes grown on three plots situated outside. The 2000 vintage is fantastic and this wine is drinking well now, but could last till 2020.
- Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot

White Burgundy
Corton Charlemagne, Grand Cru, Côtes De Beaunne,
Bourgogne, Vincent Girardin 2006

Tracing his roots in the region back to the 17th Century, Vincent was born in Santenay and started modestly with two hectares in 1982. Having since inherited his father's vineyards he has gone from strength to strength, even making it into the Wine Spectator's top 100. This Corton reminds us why so many people fell in love with Chardonnay and why Burgundians can still make the best examples. A very good year in Burgundy and drinking well now but will improve.
- Chardonnay
